After seven weeks of illness, exhaustion and lack of sleep, our family has managed to survive and move on as a healthy bunch. Yes, if you have read my previous blog, you know that we were suffering from all kinds of illnesses. Having twins could mean that germs or viruses got pass around like a merry-go-round. You get the picture and it ain’t pretty. Yes, and this month, we see both Annabelle and Ashton as themselves, playful and full of cheekiness. As parents, we are very relief to see that.
As for baby development, we noticed that they both learnt a great deal during that ill month! We didn’t know what happened but it seemed like a giant leap after that few weeks. Annabelle now understands a lot of words and it really seems that she really understands what we are saying. Ashton, despite his denial, he understands too but rejects to show it to us. Both of them also started to walk, with aid. Perhaps the walking really stimulating and also provided them a sense of freedom. I guess ‘trouble two’ isn’t far away 🙂
We didn’t venture out too much after they recovered from illness because we were just too skeptical for them to catch anything again. So we stayed ‘low’ for a while. The furthest we went was Westfield shopping centre just to get them new shoes. Didn’t they just love their new walking tool? So much so that they kept asking us to ‘walk’ with them after we came out of the shop!
As far as boy vs girl development, we can really see that Ashton loves using his body to do the talking while Annabelle uses her brain. Ashton, probably a typical boy, is fairly strong with her legs and arms. Annabelle on the other hand, she knows how to get things done by either acting, talking (a language that nobody understands) or getting your to do it for her! It’s all fun to watch but can be very frustrating at the same time. Now if anyone forces either of them to do something that’s against his/her will, they will give you the worst face that you could imagine and couple that with a very horrible high pitch scream! You know they aren’t happy. Not that we could teach them much at this moment in time but I can certainly start planning a naughty corning!
May is also their first full nursery month! Despite having only one day week, they are still getting used to the idea of being looked after by people other than parents and grandparents. But after a few weeks, we already heard from the centre that they started to blend in with other kids. I do strongly believe that it’s a good idea to start them young so they can develop with other kids and to build their confidence. Finally my kitchen extension is finished and now with double the space for them to roam around too!
So I am calling May as their recovery month from the horrible ill-April. They are now better, stronger and cleverer. Next month, Annabelle and Ashton walk non-stop. Fake smiles and new toys and more!
More snaps here for your pleasure 🙂
